St. Francis Xavier School arranged for the students from Taketoyo, Japan to visit many places in the Cairns area during their stay.
Thursday
March 25th
4:20 am Plane arrives (through customs approx 5:00am-leave
airport approx 5:45) Kinetsu representatives to meet the plane.
7:00 am breakfast at Freshwater Connection-bus to school
8:00 am Year 7 students to talk with Jerry about the day's intinerary
8:15 am arrive school-whole school assembly in breezeway-welcome by
school leaders (students) and Principal

am Divide group-Half group 2 hour charter
Cairns city tour and Lake Placid, University youth ambassadors to meet, Trinity Beach
and TAFE
9:30 am Other half of group join classes at school-Rohan Priestley to
organise -Orientation and activities in individual classrooms
12:00 pm Media interview-Win TV-Jerry and Principal
12:30 pm Lunch-pizza
1:00 pm Half groups swap as per morning

pm Official welcome afternoon tea with host families-choir to perform,
demonstration of Torres Strait Island weaving by Alma and Charlotte
4:30 pm Japanese students go home with homestay families
Friday March 26th
8:00 am Skyrail with one group of Japanese students-Jerry and Melissa to accompany
8:30 am Japanese students arrive at school with homestay family All Year 6 students to
accompany Japanese students today
9:30 am Depart St Francis Xavier's touring to Rainforestation
Nature Park, Kuranda
10:00 am Amphibious army duck tour of Rainforest
11:00 am Dreamtime Walk including boomerang throwing, spear throwing demonstrations and
didgeridoo lessons.
11:30 am Experience Pamagirri
Aboriginal Dancers in Rainforest amphitheatre
12:30 pm Lunch
1:45 pm Departure
2:30 pm arrive at school-civic reception for adults at Cairns Council Chambers to meet
Mayor
6-8:00 pm Japanese Cultural Evening for adults at Cruising Yacht Squadron -Japanese food
and entertainment
Saturday March 27th
Full day cruise to Green Island aboard MV Big
Cat Japanese students and homestay families
8:20 am students to talk with Jerry about the days intinerary
8:30 am Meet at MV Big Cat terminal
9:00 am depart for reef
3:00 pm return
Sunday March 28th
Japanese students spend day with their homestay families Jerry and Melissa to visit with
one family for filming at a mutually arranged time
Monday March 29th
8:00 am Year 7 students to talk with Jerry about the days intinerary
8:30 am arrive at school. Visits arranged to local high schools and university
5:30-7:00 pm Farewell Aussie BBQ
Tuesday March 30th
8:30 am arrive at school for final farewell
10:00 am airport .
